Guarding & response in Randburg: local notes

Randburg guarding usually starts with shop and office premises along Jan Smuts Avenue, Republic Road and the Waterfront, then moves to residential complexes in Bromhof and Olivedale. Many small businesses share one patrol vehicle across several customers, so ask how often it passes your premises. Event cover at the Waterfront and local markets needs marshals. Neighbourhood groups in Blairgowrie and Linden often run joint arrangements.

Properties and sites in Randburg

Randburg is a mix of older family suburbs, busy retail strips and light industry. Homes in Ferndale, Blairgowrie, Northcliff and Linden are often on corner stands with low or open walls, so people ask about wall-top fencing, beams and CCTV that covers the street. Complexes in Bromhof, Olivedale and Cresta rely on body corporates to renew access control and gate motors, while Republic Road, Jan Smuts Avenue and the Randburg Waterfront have shops, restaurants and offices that need alarms, monitoring and after-hours guarding. Small workshops and storage units along the surrounding industrial roads usually choose a monitored alarm plus a patrol, and compare quotes from at least three companies.

The requests we see from Randburg usually come from:

• Homeowners and families: rarely used, except for large plots where a handler patrols with a dog at night
• Offices, shops and retail centres: patrol dogs on parking lots, depots and car dealerships after hours
• Estates, complexes and body corporates: a dog and handler team on perimeter patrols of a large estate after dark
• Events, venues, hotels and lodges: detection dogs and crowd patrols at festivals, lodges and large venues
• Factories, warehouses and yards: night dog patrols of yards and warehouses, plus detection dogs at the gate
• Schools, clinics and churches: dog patrols on school grounds and sports fields outside school hours
